Krishna the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu was born in the auspicious month of Shravan as per the Hindu Calendar which is celebrated as Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami. Fov, as we call it in Goa, popularly known as Poha (Flattened Rice), is a must-eat for Krishna Janmashtami. So also Poha is an amazing Indian breakfast ingredient which if prepared with Onion is referred to as Kanda Poha (Onion Poha) and this is the pure vegetarian version of the recipe without onion. Poha can be made into various sweet as well as savory preparations. We Goans make all varieties of Poha for Janmashtami and Diwali celebrations every year.
