Doughnuts anyone?
I
confess that I do have a strong sweet tooth but I usually end up preparing
what’s wished by K and he has developed this love for doughnuts without even
having tasted them in reality but just watching it on his favorite series.
Strange but true.
Have
been making them for him the No yeast No egg ones which are super easy, quick,
and most importantly delicious
Off
late we have this rainbow topping or rainbow for everything we make may it be
cupcakes or doughnuts or cookies.hence the rainbow or multi-color toppings
which is completely his job to decorate.
Posting the recipe to make these yummy doughnuts.
Ingredients
3 cups self-raising flour
1 ½ cup yogurt (See the notes for a
substitute)
1 tbsp caster sugar
1 tsp olive oil
Grated nutmeg as per taste.
For the chocolate glaze
½ cup Chocolate chip
1 tbsp salted butter
1 tbsp milk
Cinnamon sugar coating
2-3 tbsp caster sugar
½ tsp cinnamon powder
Procedure
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, yogurt, caster sugar, olive oil and
grated nutmeg.
Mix and kneed lightly to form a soft dough.
Place the dough on a well-floured kitchen top and roll out to about 1/4th
inch thickness and cut out using a doughnut or cookie cutter (See notes for
alternatives)
In a deep frying pan, heat oil to deep fry the doughnuts.
Carefully drop the doughnuts into the oil. Allow the doughnuts to fry
about a minute per side until golden brown.
Transfer the cooked doughnuts to a plate lined with tissue paper.
Now the doughnuts are ready to be decorated.
While the doughnuts are hot it’s the best time to coat them in the
sugar-cinnamon mix.
For the chocolate glaze. Combine chocolate chips with butter and
microwave for 35-40 sec. mix well making a smooth paste.
Add milk and combine well.
Now dip one side of the doughnut into this and then decorate it with any
ready-made sprinklers of your choice.
No Yeast, No Egg doughnuts are ready to serve.
Tips and Notes
In case of unavailability of yogurt, can replace it with 1 1/2 cup milk
and 2 1/2 tbsp White Vinegar. Let it rest for 10min. This can be used in place of
yogurt.
We used two sizes of round shapes to make our doughnut shapes. One steel
glass with sharp edges and one small nozzle whose circle was apt for the
smaller round shape of the doughnut. You can look for any such things and shape
with what's available in your kitchen.
These doughnuts can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge up
to 2-3 days. Can microwave and eat them hot.
